School of sanctuary

In the heart of our school hall, we proudly display our 'Everyone is welcome at St George's' board. This board reminds us of our Christian value of inclusion and demonstrates the wonderful diversity of our school community.  

In our school library there are a variety of books which celebrate our diverse communities and allow our pupils to learn about the different cultures and languages of our families. 

Solomiia's mum Liudmyla has organised a collection for Ukrainain children for Christmas. This is a message from her:

Dear Mrs Earnshaw,
Dear parents and children of St George’s,

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for taking part in the collection of Christmass gifts for children in Ukraine. With the money you donated, Solomiya and I were able to buy warm socks and stationery sets (pens, pencils and markers) for the children.

 Your generosity has helped create a little piece of magic for them this Christmas.Your support, kindness and understanding mean more than words can say. It is incredibly important for these children to feel that they are not alone — that even from places as far away as Britain, people care about them.

As one of the thousands of mothers who came to England seeking safe place, I truly understand how important it is to feel that you are not alone in this world — that there are always people (like all of you) who understand, who can offer support, and who simply exist in your life so that you do not feel isolated, even when you are thousands of miles away from your home.
And perhaps there is no greater force in this world than the power of LOVE — it connects us all.

Thank you for your kindness and for helping to bring hope and warmth to their hearts.
